Pet Loss Support

owners who need and want to ease the stress and anxiety related to the loss of their pets. Listening to others and sharing one’s feelings after the loss of a pet can be very beneficial in coping with grief.

Our Goals:

• To assist pet owners in coping with grief caused by the loss or anticipated loss of a companion animal dog, cat, bird, horse, gerbil, etc.
• To refer individuals to community resources for services in addition to the Pet loss Support Group
• To provide a list of qualified bereavement counselors for individual counseling sessions, if desired
• To improve the public’s awareness and understanding of the depth of human animal bonding and its benefits
• To help the public be more understanding and sympathetic toward individuals who are experiencing grief over the loss of an animal

Professional Guidance

Professional Guidance… with care

Each support group is conducted by professional group leaders, knowledgeable in grief counseling, who are volunteering their time to help you. Regularly scheduled meetings last approximately 1½ hours. At most meetings a short educational topic is presented by the group leader, veterinarian, veterinary technician or other guest speaker.

Participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences – which will he kept confidential.

How to Participate– call 397 – PETS for date, time and location of next meeting

• Free of charge
• You may attend an unlimited number of meetings
• Participants are encouraged to return to help others after their own needs have been met
